Santa’s Coming to Dewsbury Park Mansion

The newly elected committee of Friends of Dewsbury Park Mansion lost no time in planning a fun event on Saturday 10th December to enable the whole community to contribute their ideas about how the Park Mansion could be used. This festive event is intended to begin the process of gathering ideas from the local community on how the building can remain in community use whilst generating an income to sustain that work, and maintain the building. Dewsbury based Callaloo Carnival Arts will be providing a Giant Crow with a huge Nest. The nest will be used to help us collect visitors’ views about the future of the Mansion. We want to ensure that all the people of this historic town have a chance to feed into the process, to have a sense of ownership and excitement about what is possible at the Park Mansion – and have fun whilst doing it!

Santa’s Coming!

Santa has been invited and will arrive in a Classic Car, escorted by Callaloo’s Giant Crow and attendants, including some of Santa’s Elves! There are lots of other activities being planned for all parts of Dewsbury’s diverse community and visitors will be delighted by crafts, singing, dancing, spoken word, carols, ghazals, Festive Refreshments and general merriment!

Local performers and community organisations will join together to give visitors a chance:

  • to meet groups who are already active in the park
  • to suggest how their group might use the Mansion building in the future
  • how the Park and the Mansion could benefit the people of Dewsbury and surrounding areas.

We hope to see you there for lots of festive fun and to share your thoughts and ideas on the future of the Mansion!
